- Emergency services were called to Stephenson Street, in Wallsend, shortly before 4.30pm yesterday (Monday) following reports of a collision between a black and brown Harley Davidson motorcycle and a brown Mercedes Sprinter van near the Hadrian Road junction with Potter Street.
- North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) despatched a double crewed ambulance, several paramedics and vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the scene, where the rider of the Harley Davidson – a man in his 30s – was found to have sustained serious injuries.
- He was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), where he remains in a critical condition.
