Impact
The DUP's Brian Kingston described the Climate Change Act as "a political compromise in the face of a rival private member's bill from the Green Party" and said that the DUP "sought to protect agriculture and the taxpayer in Northern Ireland from unrealistic demands". "It remains our view that, given the state of public services, including pressures facing health, education, infrastructure, policing and all others, any business case developed to operationalise the Commissioner's office should not be railroaded through at the expense of projects that are, to all intents and purposes, more important and impactful for people, communities and groups currently facing significant challenges in everyday life," he said.
